Polyethylene is positively buoyant and
therefore un-sinkable.
It has around 5 times the impact strength
of fibreglass
It won't rust, rot, corrode, dent or
split and due to the slippery nature of the
material it doesn't support marine growth
either.
UV stabilizers have been added so the
material won't break down in harsh hot
climates.
Virtually no maintenance is required as
there is no pontoons to puncture and no
paint or gel coat to care for. Any dings of
scrapes can easily be repaired without the
fear of osmosis problems.
To cap things off, Polyethylene is also
fully recyclable making it the one of the
most environmentally friendly building
material.
What are the advantages of the
pontoon design?
The one huge advantage is the safety
aspect of a pontoon design. Pontoons give extremely
good stability at rest, under way and when
swamped!
All Mac pontoon boats have been
"swamp tested" and are certified
to carry their full load capacity when completely
fill with water.
Mac have the distinct advantage of
"D" section pontoons. This
offers all the benefits of a pontoon but
the vertical inside give an internal beam
far greater than all in its class.
What makes Mac boats so unique?
The moulding technique involves a sophisticated
computer controlled rotational process. The hull is molded in one single
piece which is controlled to ensure the
desired hull thickness. The twin skins
means there are no joins where stress
points can occur and creates a stiff,
rigid hull that won't twist and bend in a
big sea.
Having a twin skinned hull also means
that the Mac boats are extremely soft
riding and very quiet under way and at
rest making them ideal for fishing.
Due to the Hull design and the nature
of the material, less Horsepower is
generally required to make the boat
perform.
How versatile are Mac boats?
The Mac range of accessories is large
and continually expanding. A range of
consoles, seats, cuddy cabins and runabout
foredecks means the hull range can simply
be configured to suit your requirements whether
commercial or recreational. Mac boats have
been a success all over the world as work
boats, fishing and dive charter vessels,
hire boats and leisure craft.
How strong are the Mac Boats?
Indestructible, well
virtually! Nothing is indestructible,
however, Mac Boats under normal conditions
are less likely to sustain damage than boats
made from other materials. If damage occurs,
polyethylene can be repaired by a heat
welding process. Polyethylene requires very
little maintenance, the occasional wash with
soapy water is all that is required.
